Positive and Negative Impact

of the New Normal

Learning Modalities

Positive Impacts:

  • Teachers and students will be protected from getting infected by the virus (COVID-19).

  •  Teachers and students are far from getting late in class, less expense in traveling from and to school. Students are closely monitored with parents in going in and out of the house – means less worries for the parents.

  • Parents of the students will monitor their children easily.

  • Teachers and students can avoid getting late in class because there is no traffic in an online class set-up and they can save money because of less expense in traveling to school.

Negative Impacts:

  • Inability To Focus On Screens- With online learning, there is also a greater chance for students to be easily distracted by social media or other sites.

  • Technology Issues - Another key challenge of online classes is internet connectivity. In smaller cities and towns, a consistent connection with decent speed is a problem. Without a consistent internet connection for students or teachers, there can be a lack of continuity in learning for the child.

  • Sense Of Isolation - In an online class, there are minimal physical interactions between students and teachers. This often results in a sense of isolation for the students.

  • Manage Screen Time- Sometimes students also develop bad posture and other physical problems due to staying hunched in front of a screen.

Reminder:

Despite the negative effect of the new normal learning modalities we must embrace the new normal setup and face the reality to keep moving forward to reach our dream destination.
